Description
I never thought in a million years I would ever put this boat up for sale. When I purchased the boat I honestly thought all my Christmas's had come at once Please take your time to read my full description however long it ends up this boat is not your everyday little cabin cruiser and comes full of character and history and one thing is for sure no matter what angle I take a picture or how good a photographer is they could not show the true characteristics of this boat. We are a family of canal lovers and canal boat owners of all shapes and sizes but regardless of size this one is everyone's favorite. Sold twice on ebay last year but both buyers never completed sale this week 14/05/2017 the boat is in the process of being painted and engine will be serviced for new owners this as she has been stood since last year and not touched but up note after 12 months of not being used engine started first time today never have I had so much joy lol Ok here goes I purchased this boat back in April 2014. It had been Designed by a Naval Marine engineer for a couple who wanted it for weekend trips along the Thames and over through the heart of Oxford. All the original plans for every aspect of the build are here in my possession along with two folders of paper work including all orginal blue print design plans From what I can work out this dates back to the 60;s originally according to the plans was designed to have an inboard engine but later changed to a muculock 40hp engine ( no longer with boat but traces of original wiring system have been left in place as not to damage woodwork) Now unfortunately before the boat got to see the water the wife of the couple past away and the completed boat sat in dry storage till 2010 ish I say ish as I can find receipts dating from that time having points / service etc from that time and when I purchased the boat in 2014 all th original seating and interior was like brand new with no wear what's so ever. So either this is when it was in the water or this was just it being checked over and got running this I don't know Now the part I was then told from the person I purchased it from was that he had come across the boat in the dry storage and purchased it from the family of the couple with the intention of using it in Liverpool but again it then sat in a boat yard in Liverpool for several years. The seller not really knowing much as boating on the canals or rivers did not realize the boat would need a safety certificate and boat license. Did not find this out until trying to deal with crt when he had moored the boat on the Leeds and Liverpool canal on the arm down from Burscough the name of that bit cant think off So that's where it sat with fines and warnings from the CRT for a good few months until I was lucky enough to come across his advert on gum tree. I purchased it with the intention of cruising up to the Llangollen canal and have it moored in Chirk where I had arranged moorings for her. So from there the family took it in turns to cruise her up of the leads and Liverpool onto the Bridgewater canal, unfortunately the original engine didn't make it turned out be be something and nothing but as I never planned on keeping a 40hp on the back of it for the canal I used a spare 10hp with tiller to cruise it for 4 days not easy in winds that's for sure some scary moments. Got the boat to Stockton Heath where I had arranged for the boat safety certificate to be done only to find the boat was so dated a lot of issues came up like battery wiring and gas locker was made out of wood and some small other bits. While the work was being assessed I happened to mention to the examiner where my destination was going to be and being so close to home I could just go on day trips etc. He looked puzzeled and said I don't think its going to Llangolleon quick measure later and he was right no it wasn't the boat is not far of 8 ft wide. So quick change of plan and the boat is now moored in Moore Village and although 23ft sits on a 30 ft mooring with possibly the best mooring owner we could have wished to find. The mooring is available with the boat if desired the owner does regular walks past all moorings and boats have always been safe there she even brought me a gallon of water when I ran out for a brew Last year the whole boat was painted obviously not the stunning varnish finish on the inside but being wood it does like to be topped up in places after the winter months The boat came out of the water last year and all the hull was checked and painted We have fitted a mercury 4 stroke 9.9hp Big Foot which was only a few years old and is purpose built for this kind of thing I must say I've had it a year on the boat and not serviced its caused no issue but maybe is something you would want to do The boat has a separate room with a toilet accessible from the rear deck. Canopy is ok but color is faded still waterproof we did re-color it with a canvas dye last year but still looks faded We have fitted a 1000w inverter and a television The boat has a 2ring hob and grill that was new last year cost a fortune as I wanted to keep it dated to keep the look of the boat 2 years safety certificate is on the boat new owners will need to register with Bridgewater canal ( peel holdings) or move the boat onto another canal please remember its nearly 8 foot wide if moving. ok so big question why am I selling her Our wonderful mooring owner has offered us some moorings in Staffordshire with a place close by for our caravan to be next to the boat and we have fallen in love with the idea and location but this boat wont go there again because of its width so she is up for sale to purchase a standard 6.10 beam boat so following ebay rules if anyone would consider a part exchange or similar please contact me sorry but the boat is an hour from us so don't want to make wasted trips Couple of things to mention it is a 2 birth 2 singles its does have a 12v chiller box / fridge fitted 2 nearly new leisure battery's and one starting battery please see video clip for more pictures
