Hurley Silhouette Yacht - ProjectThis is a great little yacht / day sailor. Not sure when she was built, approx 1970's. There is a website for Hurey and for Silhouette owners that will provide some background and history. She is approx 17 feet long.She needs some love and attention but nothing too major (in my opinion). The two biggest problems are the mast and rudder. The mast is wooden (although the boat itself is fibreglass), it has been left on the ground and is wrotten in places. The mast is of simple construction and the old mast could be a template for a new one (the boom is in good condition). The rudder was extremely stiff and unfortunately I had to cut it off, this will require some work, or perhaps a transom mounted rudder.No sails.Unfortunately the companion-way hatch cover and washboard are missing.There is no engine, although she once had an inboard and there is a propellor. She has a bracket for an outboard.The interior is very simple and needs to be replaced, this should not be too much of an issue for someone with DIY skills.She is sitting on a trailer. I used the trailer to bring her home (approx 40 miles) and it was ok. However, I would treat the trailer with caution (not guarenteed), as it will require work also, to ensure safe for the road.
