LOCATED IN OLD SAYBROOK ,CONNECTICUT ***** PLEASE VIEW THE 94 PHOTOS BELOW THIS AD****** This is a NO RESERVE auction for a 1993 Sea Ray 290 Sundancer that needs some minor engine work. It is the 290 Sundancer aft cabin model with Single Mercruiser 7.4 liter 310hp (GM 454) engine and Bravo 2 sterndrive. This boat was last used in 2016 and the previous owner had some engine problems late in the season. The exhaust overheated and the marina removed the risers to repair but found it was the water pump key that was the problem. The risers are newer OEM stainless models and look perfect. They will need to be re-installed with new boots and flapper valves. The previous owner had the entire transom assembly replaced with all new Mercruiser parts a few years beforehand (see photo). The gimbal bearing and bellows all look great. The outdrive was removed for storage and will need to be installed as well. We checked the oil at the time of pictures and it is clean with no water. We also hooked up our jump box and the motor cranks over and sounds great. We did not power anything in the boat or check anything for operation however the controls all work and gauges powered up when we cranked the engine. I would expect some things to work and some to need repair as with any boat that needs to be commissioned after a couple years. Cosmetically it is in good shape. The decks are all rock solid and we did walk the entire boat. Gelcoat is in great shape and will buff/wax to a nice original gloss. Canvas is in poor shape but looks to be mostly there (we did not inspect the parts that are stored in cabin). The cushions in cockpit are okay. Some are original and good, some are sunfaded and some are just re-upholstered with new epoxy coated plywood backing. There are a couple areas in cockpit bolsters and side panels that are showing rot in the plywood backing. The previous owner looked to be fixing the boat up a bit before losing interest. The interior is in nice shape but there is some evidence of water stains in the aft cabin from a leaky or maybe left open window. The carpet on the cabin sole is dirty and needs a good cleaning or replacement. If you are handy this boat will represent a good value as the average price these boats of this vintage are listed for is $22000.00.
