Description Condition: New Year: 1930 Make: Babe
Up for auction is a quite truly unique piece of historic sports memorabilia. Where most autographs are considered "cuts" and are on a very small piece of paper or other item. This Babe Ruth "Sincerely" (spelled with two R's as was not unusual for the Babe) was not a rushed signed autograph. This autograph was received in my Grandmother's Family Hotel/restaurant located in Plymouth. PA. it is written on the backside of a "bar pad"(give away items from the Beverage vendors) from the Hoffman Beverage company. The location of the hotel was not far from Artillery Park at Wilkes College where During an exhibition game between Hughestown and Larkesville, the Babe hit a 600+ foot home run off Larksville pitcher Earnie Corkran. This was the only time where the Babe actually asked to have the hit measured. "it felt so perfect". It's not secret that the Babe liked NE Penna. It was at Mercy Hospital where The Babe promised a young boy in critical care, that he'd hit a Home-run for him. My grandmother was a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital at that time.It was also no secret that the Babe liked to eat, .... well the restaurant at "Houghton Hotel" had a very fine reputation for excellent seafood, (my father used to eat the oysters raw out of the shell in the basement, (this didn't please my grandmother, but boys will be boys). The Autograph was acquired in the restaurant, and my opinion when the Babe was not in a rush, which is the reason for its large size. The paper its on measures 6 1/4"w x 3 1/2"h. on the reverse is the bottom of the bar pad with the Hoffman ad. The item was in a Houghton Hotel letterhead envelope ever since. (my grandmother put a card inside to help protect it from bending) Included in the sale.I will include in the sale two other items which she collected as seen in the pictures along with the JSA letter of Authenticity* A "United Stated Internal Revenue" Tax Stamp for Half Barrel Fermented Malt Liquor that has A Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. tax stamp affixed. federal series 1933 tax stamp* Also a section 6 stamps in a sheet of Penna Revenue Beverage stamps for Pint Bev. sales. None of these items have been mounted and I feel that they can be presented in a truly amazing one of a kind display that will rival anything in any collection.I will ship VIA certified insured carrier free to winning bidderHappy Bidding, I know if you are a True Sports enthusiast you will love what I am offering!
