1976 Catalina 27 !
No Reserve - Priced to sell Zanadu is a Catalina 27 built in May of 1976, just in time for our nation's bicentennial ! I have owned Zanadu for over two years. I'm over 60 and own several boats, including a Catalina 30 that I want to put in the same slip. So its time to find Zanadu a new home. You are welcome to come out to the White Rocks Marina in Pasadena MD to look at the boat. Its on C dock slip C25. Mike's Crab House is part of the marina and there is usually a live band playing in the evening (weather permitting). The Catalina 27 is a well known classic boat. A total of over 6600 of them were built over a 20 year period and the Catalina factory is still in business today. Both new and used parts are plentiful and its an easy boat to sail. With just a 4 foot draft, its well suited for life on the Chesapeake. It's roomy for a 27 footer with standing headroom pretty much front to back and has berth space for 6. This boat is ready to sail and is kept at White Rocks Marina in Pasadena MD. Looking for boating advice? There are about a half dozen Catalina 27s on my dock alone! Sails in very good condition. The main is protected by a blue sail cover and the jib comes with a matching hank on storage bag! A folding blue bimini top is in good condition but the storage cover is faded. The main sail cover also needs some sewing done. All the cabin cushions are original and in decent condition. I steam cleaned them and they are still stored in my garage. The interior and exterior teak was treated with a mixture of Tung and Cedar oils. Repairs were made as needed. Spent a LOT of time addressing small water leaks. Not perfect, but it has been a pretty dry boat since. The previous owner crunched the bow pulpit. I replaced it with one from a later model which includes nav lights. The bottom paint probably needs to be refreshed, but still looks pretty clean. Can wait until the fall. No waterlogged soft spots and the mast step is solid. I started up front re-painting the topside (makes a big difference). I replaced the hard to find anchor Hawse pipe cover and the previous owner did some earlier water repair in the same location. The original onboard marine toilet was removed. There is a brand new, never used Dometic porta-potty (for emergencies :-) 12 volt deep cycle battery included (dated 2014). Questionable how long it lasts without a charge. Is hooked to a solar charger. The tiller handle was re-varnished and has the multiple layers of light and dark wood inlay. Looks nice! There is a Coleman 5 HP four stroke long shaft outboard motor with about 8 total hours of run time on the back of the boat. Galley comes with a freshwater stainless sink, ice box and Origo 2 burner alcohol stove with cutting board. Danforth type anchor included with chain and unknown length of line. Bow anchor holder also included but not installed. Will include basic Coast Guard safety equipment (4 life jackets, etc.), but flares and fire extinguishers are expired. This is a nice boat! It's not perfect, but in my opinion looks good for its age. There are some fiberglass spider cracks, but they don't affect the structural integrity and can be painted over. There are no compression cracks often caused by impacts with other boats. Nicks and stains here and there but most are in hidden locations. Was going to pull the Coleman outboard motor as I find its better suited for a John boat but I am adding it in. Its a long shaft and moves the boat very well. Personally speaking, if I were keeping the boat, I would use the engine well that came with the boat and install a nice Suzuki 9.9 with power tilt and remote throttle and gear shift. If you don't want the Coleman motor, I will remove it and take $400 off the price of the boat. There is a TON of information available online and a very active International Catalina 27-270 Association with a very focused online blog (forum). You are never far from another Catalina 27 owner and most owners are friendly and knowledgeable. I have a Maryland title and the DNR is literally "down the road" in Annapolis. I will mention that a slip at White Rocks Marina only runs me $1350 a year and they have a special for first year customers. Boat insurance, which I have through Boat U.S. is cheap as well. Pasadena MD is located between Baltimore and Annapolis so getting to great boating locations does not take very long. I include a bill of sale and will help you reassign the title. I'd be happy to help you sail it home if you are not that far away and can give me a ride back to the Marina. I also include hands on instructions regarding basic maintenance and motor starting procedures and am always available to answer any questions you may have. I have another boat that will be going in this same slip, so I will never be that far away. The boat is also listed with several internet listing services. Will end the auction if the boat sells early before any bids. IMPORTANT: The boat is being sold as is, sorry no refunds, and does not have a warranty. The buyer is required to make a $500 deposit at the end of this auction and pay the full balance within 7 days. The boat must be removed from the slip within 7 days. Arrangements for another slip can be made with White Rocks Marina for whatever time frame is required. Shipping and transportation is the complete responsibility of the buyer. The balance must be paid and cleared before delivery (cash upon delivery). International buyers are fine, but the entire balance must be paid and cleared before pickup. Please contact me with any questions before you bid. Serious bidders only! Click on the pictures below for larger images: Bid with confidence! I have an eBay rating of over 800 with 100% positive feedback and have been with eBay since 2001.
